Fans of the Real Housewives of New Jersey know that Teresa and Joe Giudice are no longer together following their split confirmation back in December. However, as it turns out, the mother of four had actually realized things would end between them a long time ago!
On the show, it was finally shown the exact moment when Teresa ended things with her husband of two decades.
It happened during her and the girls’ visit in Italy and now, an insider tells HollywoodLife what exactly caused the realization that it would not work out between them.
Apparently, Teresa has been considering the split ever since 2017 when her mom Antonia Gorga passed away.
That’s when she realized she blamed Joe for her prison sentence that led to Teresa missing a year of her mother’s life.
‘When Teresa’s mom died, she really realized how angry she was with Joe because she was away and missed a solid year of her [mother’s] life. She started looking at life differently,’ the source told HollywoodLife.
As you might remember, she spent 11 months behind bars and after she was released in 2015, it was Joe’s turn to serve his own sentence for fraud, which was much longer.
Furthermore, he also spent quite a few months in the custody of ICE and now, he lives in Italy, awaiting a final decision in his deportation case.
Of course, it feels less and less likely that he will ever be allowed to return to the United States as the days go by.
Another insider dished that ‘Teresa and Joe still have no plans for divorce anytime soon, for the sake of their daughters. They want to make this as easy on their daughters as possible.’

At the end of the day, however, ‘Teresa and Joe have both realized they’re happier and better off not together, and even their daughters agree. But they will always remain a united front for their girls, no matter what.’
