Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier have both made weight before their UFC 257 main event on Fight Island.

Two of the best lightweights on the planet will collide at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi in a repeat of their 2014 clash.

McGregor, a former undisputed champion at lightweight, took the scales first on Friday morning and hit championship weight of 155lbs to send a serious statement.

‘The Notorious’ was quickly followed by Poirier, who has been at lightweight since that defeat at UFC 178, who made weight at 156lbs.

Amazingly, this is the just the third time McGregor has ever fought at lightweight in the UFC, despite previously holding the world title in 2016.

He won the belt in his debut at UFC 205 by knocking out Eddie Alvarez, before returning to the division in 2018 as he tried to wrestle back the title from Khabib Nurmagomedov.

The Russian proved too much of a force on that night at UFC 229, who then defeated Poirier just 11 months later in Abu Dhabi at UFC 242.

In the co-main event of the evening, both Michael Chandler and Dan Hooker made 156lbs, with all four men hoping to make a statement on Fight Island.

With Khabib currently out of action indefinitely, championship gold could just be two fights away.
