Zachary Quinto became a household name when he was cast as Skylar in “Heroes,” which is a series that aired for several years and produced a number of famous faces. He’s been busy in his 37 years, taking on roles that would turn him into a star and also spending some time behind the cameras as a director. He is certainly not a man of singular talents; he has many and he is pretty good at just about everything he does. Not only does he just come across as someone who is a kind, generous person as well as an immense talent, he’s actually a kind and generous person. According to Zachary Quinto’s Twitter page, he only wanted to have donations made on his behalf for Christmas.

best christmas gift is donation to nyc humane society… and best thing i could hope for is that all… http://t.co/uWQtDrW5FK

Since most people aren’t so bold with their selflessness, we thought we might dig up a few other little-known facts about the famous actor and share them with his devoted and loving fans. They’re pretty interesting and you might appreciate a few of them.

He Came out to do a Favor to his Fellow Gays

When he came out in 2011 as a gay man, Quinto said he could no longer stand by and watch as others in his same shoes were ridiculed and mistreated to the point that they would take their own lives. He said he didn’t feel that keeping his secret was the right way to help bring equality to the world. Bravo to him.

He’s an Obama Supporter

But he’s so great in other ways that we can forgive him for that. Kidding, of course. Everyone is entitled to their own personal political views, and even though some of us did not vote the same way does not mean we lack respect for the roles politicians have in the world.

He Lost his Father at Seven

When he was just a boy of 7, his father died of cancer. He and his brother were then raised by their single mother. It was a low point for the family, as you can only imagine.
